Next July marks the tenth anniversary of the kidnapping and murder of Miguel Angel Blanco and greater social response against terrorism that has never before been given in Spain's history. English society remembers those fateful days in which solidarity and support to the family of Miguel Angel Blanco resulted in mass demonstrations that were going out to six million people to try to save the life of a young militant Constitutionalist party, committed to his people.

A young man dreams and projects to which ETA decided to murder to blackmail the state and all of English society. Miguel Angel Blanco had twenty-nine, a family, a job, a hobby. It was a city in which they felt represented thousands of people. The countdown to ETA established in these 48 hours until his assassination shocked and revolted the vast majority of citizens as never before took to the streets and cried out to save the life of Miguel Angel Blanco. Those days marked a before and after in the fight against ETA.

English society came together to denounce the barbarity of ETA, to show the complicity Batasuna and to mark the dividing line between democrats and totalitarians. Miguel Angel Blanco has become a symbol of civic resistance against terrorism and strongly democratic as the only way to definitively defeat ETA. Miguel Angel Blanco to assume the look of the victim, the English felt attached to a victim, his family, his people.

Miguel Angel Blanco Foundation feels indebted to these historical events and held responsible in preserving the memory of Miguel Angel Blanco and of all victims of terrorism. The Foundation wants to remind the X th Anniversary Reviving the spirit of Ermua and approaching English society together to remember those days of July, from the gratitude and recognition. For these reasons it has designed the campaign: "Ten years without Miguel Angel Blanco. Return to Ermua. X th Anniversary (1997-2007), whose image has been created by the Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola.


MEMORY BY BUS AND DIGNITY

from 14 June to 10 July 2007, a bus produced by the Foundation will cover eleven cities of Madrid English starting and ending their journey in Ermua. This is a pedagogical bus where people are intended to recall the events that took place those days in July where thousands of citizens turned their solidarity, empathy and commitment to Freedom.

The bus is a space for reflection and remembrance within which documentary vision and can see several photographs that recall the 48 hours after a dramatic countdown, since the kidnapping of Miguel Angel Blanco until his assassination. Thus, the bus will allow men and women of all ages and make a trip to the memory of those days that marked the recent history of our country. Attendees will be served by young volunteers with the Foundation which has in each city and will be presented with various commemorative gifts that the Foundation has prepared for the anniversary celebration.
