Herta Müller in The man is a great pheasant in the world, tells the story of a tree that ate their apples, and the horror it causes in the village. The tree is condemned to the stake.
But nobody asked about the disquisitions of the tree before being burned. What was so horrified the villagers?
I agree, thought the tree, "looks terrible, if a man eats his own finger that has to be accused of cannibalism. But is it not because the fingers are not designed to be eaten? "Instead of apples? Are not designed, even by the very nature, to be eaten? What's the horror of my coma I own fruit?
Of course, the tree never heard of the concept of incest.
